Belsito’s Not Dead Yet?

1

No, apparently not. Clearly enough time has passed since his last effort Fade Dissolve that anyone who actually followed Belsito’s music career have given up on seeing another release. So what does the reclusive singer decide to do once everyone gives up? Release some new music. Word on the street is that Belsito began quietly working on new material shortly after the Fade Dissolve release and has only now decided to do something with it. What can we say? Artists are fussy. Word on the street is that the upcoming release will have twelve new Belsito songs on it. The singer has confirmed that at least a few of the songs have been performed live over the years, while the majority of the songs have never been heard by mortal ears. The (recently) hard working staff at chrisbelsito.com will let you know as soon as any details are confirmed. So, no, Belsito isn’t actually dead, but he sometimes likes to pretend that he is.

  Curt’s Baboon Scrapyard

0

For those that follow such things, you may have noticed some “new” promo pictures of Belsito floating around the website. “New” being the questionable word. The photos were taken during a photo shoot with photographer extrordinaire and creator of the “Curt O’Neil Effect” (see other posts on this subject) –  Curt O’ Neil. Curt has been making a name for himself in the local photography world and rightfully so. Although he primarily works with “groups” of people greater than one (can one be a group?), he captured a variety of images of Belsito around the Sault. Many of the shots were taken in a local scrapyard, as Belsito suspects, to reflect Curt’s image of Belsito as being old and ready for the big retirement. Not really, but we may blame Curt for this anyway. Anyhow, to the left, is a shot of Belsito in one of his favorite local hangouts – The Rad Zone.  The Zone has more music, books and collectibles than a person could ever possible need – although said person may try to acquire them all. Yes, in this particular shot, Belsito picked up some vinyl The Clash for maximum musical credibility and probably never ended up buying it. Anyway, to check out a small selection of Curt’s Belsito promo shots, click here. To check out the Rad Zone, click here. To see a picture of a random, very excited baboon, click here.

  Dancing Baboon Perhaps?

“Tell me something funny. Amuse me.” – Chris Belsito

“I’m not your monkey. I don’t dance on command.” – Anthony Aiello, Belsito Associate and Collector of Calendars

(Editor’s Note: This, in fact, proves he is a monkey and quite willing to dance on command.)

  Punching Kittens

“Hey, how are you today?” – Anthony Aiello, Belsito associate and collector of calendars

“Do you really want to know? I’m kind of depressed.” – Chris Belsito

“Have you tried punching a kitten?  That always brings a smile to my face.” -  Anthony Aiello

(Editor’s Note: Clearly, Belsito’s choice in friends is not helping his mental state.)

I want a name like Falco or Gowan….

3

Let’s begin by clearly stating that Chris Belsito has not become an Ashanti, Brandy, Beck, Bjork, Cher, Diddy, Dido, Donovan, Eve, Falco, Enya, Gowan, Jewel, Kelis, Liberace, Madonna, Martika, Moby, Mya, Nelly, Pavlo, Pink, Prince, Raffi, Robyn, RuPaul, Shaggy, Shakira, Sting, Taco, Tiffany or Yanni (although Chris did want us to mention that he felt that Yanni once had a fine head of hair). But, you may have noticed that the artist branding on the top of this page is a little different than in the past. Gone is the “Chris” in “Chris Belsito” for certain usages. We felt that it looked better. It had a bit more pizzazz (a much underutilized word if we do say so).  Likely, if you are visiting this site you probably know that Chris is Chris. If not, now we have told you. The new name brand design, focusing on Chris’s family surname,  was created by the fine fine folks at Fuzed Notions (thanks Jessica and Justin!). Yes, Belsito is an Italian word that references a beautiful place or city, but now, it also references good music. You will likely see the new moniker around, so hopefully you like it. Let us know what you think…

  Winking Web

“I swear my website just winked at me. Is that normal?” – Chris Belsito

“I was just watching Doctor Who, so I’m inclined to say it’s normal and not to worry.” – Craig West

(Editor’s Note: At times, the Craig’s encouragement of Chris’s insanity is probably just not healthy.)

  Snazzy New Webpage?

0

Why, yes. Thank you for noticing. For those who are new to the page….welcome. For those of you who are returning and have stumbled back in may have noticed that we have made some changes around chrisbelsito.com. With the great design work of the fine folks at Fuzed Notions, Chris Belsito has been pulled kicking and screaming into the modern age of the web page.  We are still transferring the years of data from the old webpage and working out a few bugs here and there, so please be patient as we get the new chrisbelsito.com up-and-running. You will notice some changes: the old ‘Forum’ has become ‘The Insiders’; ‘Lyrics’ are hidden in the Sounds section if you click on the individual songs. We will also start including the many other writings of Belsito from his journalistic side in the ‘Other Writings’ section. And there will be a lot more. In the meantime, feel free to explore and let us know what you think. Hopefully we will be ready to start filling you in on the many other new things happening with Belsito. Be patient and talk soon.

“For sure. They could just hang around and get drunk with you. It would be fun.” – Chris Belsito
