Larry Borek
"This is What We Know"

Larry Borek lived in San Francisco at Haight - Ashbury during the height of the sixties in an apartment across from the space that the Jefferson Airplane used to rehearse in. He often listened to them practice. We know this much. We also know that he now has a recording studio on St Joseph's Island called Red Gecko Studios. What we don't really know is what happened in between. We don't know if Larry is wanted by the CIA or the FBI or whether he ever went to Vietnam. We don't know if he was part of the million-man march with Martin Luther King. We do know that he has written tonnes of music including a complete opera. We know that much. We know he logged countless hours working on Turbulence and Fade Dissolve. We know he suffered much so that those CDs sound like they do, and that he managed to sit for hours in a room with Belsito without killing him. We know that much. We don't know if Larry is in the Witness Protection Program or if he was Deep Throat (No, not the movie silly...we know who that is). We don't know if there is any connection between Watergate and Larry. We don't know if he has ever been to Cuba or has ever met Jimmy Carter. We really don't know what string of events led Larry to St. Joseph's Island or to build Red Gecko Recording Studios. We do know that without Larry, there would be no Turbulence or Fade Dissolve. So we are glad he is here. We know that much.
