chrisbelsito.com is providing free music for you to listen to and/or download. This music is provided for your enjoyment and to give you a taste of my style of songwriting. Although I have made these songs available for free on my website, I encourage you to purchase a CD if you like what you hear. Independent artists spend money out of their pockets to record and produce their songs in a format for the world to enjoy. Remember that this includes CD artwork with lyric sheets, cover art, and pictures. Music on my manufactured CDs is ensured to be highest-quality version of the recording. Music that is swapped on the net is not guaranteed, and is often a lower quality. Like most independent musicians, I only hope to make the money I have invested back. Therefore, I have kept the CD prices low to make it easier for those who love music to buy it. I trust your judgement as a music listener - so please enjoy the free music. Spread the word about independent artists to anyone that you think will also enjoy it.

Listen to a rare, unreleased video edit of "Circles and Circles" (originally released on Chris Belsito's Turbulence CD in a longer format). Up-and-coming director Chris Nash created a horror-inspired video for the song and required a much shortened version of the track to make it commercially releasable. Interestingly, Chris' brother William M. Nash provided the electronic samples that you hear on both this and the CD version of the song.

SONGS FROM THE CHRIS BELSITO AND RAINHORSES ERA - CIRCA 1993 - 1996

Listen to a rare unreleased track that was recorded in 1996 for the intended follow-up to Chris Belsito's Rainhorses August Mask CD. This was the first Belsito song to be co-written - with his cousin Leigh McFadden. The song marked a shift in style and proved to be an interestings experiment with vocals for Belsito who went for an overdone 70's wall of "ohhs" and "ahhs". The August Mask line-up of Chris, Brian Oja, George Ravlich, and Glen Thomas played on the track. Although he has many great moments throughout the Rainhorses recordings, Brian's stunning lead guitar on this track is one of my personal highlights of all the great work we did together.

Listen to tracks from the Chris Belsito's Rainhorses August Mask CD that was released in 1995. Although August Mask was recorded in about two days, it gained a fair amount of attention and got the band invited to perform on the main stage as one of the headliners of the Northern Lights Festival in Sudbury with Great Big Sea.

SONG FROM THE BAND HEMLOCK TEA (FEATURING CHRIS BELSITO, CRAIG WEST, and GEORGE RAVLICH)

In 1998, a compilation of songs by Sault Ste. Marie artists called Local Steel was released. A track called "Weight in Water," by a seemingly unknown band named Hemlock Tea, rocked forth. Upon closer look at the CD credits, the band members appear awfully similar to the line-up on Belsito's Turbulence CD. Truth be told, Hemlock Tea was Craig West solo project with guests. The Craig West penned track was recorded with none other than George Ravlich on bass and Chris Belsito on vocals (as well as a certain stick pounding Roy Kreutzberger). Although the project was a one-off, it makes for an interesting addition to the Belsito band family tree. Craig had originally written the song for 40,000 Years (a band both West and Belsito played with), West left 40,000 Years to join an early incarnation of Chris Belsito and Rainhorses but then quit to form his own band, Iron Lung (where he took on Roy). While Craig was in the Iron Lung (no, not for real), George Ravlich joined Belsito's Rainhorses. Confused yet? So, it wasn't until years later when recording the Turbulence CD that Belsito, Ravlich and West would actually all be in the same band. Hemlock Tea, though a band on paper, was only an early, chance recording with each member going to the studio in different sessions. The point being, this song now makes for a bit of early Belsito Band history. Sure, it is a bit heavier than Belsito's usual fare, but we think you might enjoy it.

In Sounds you will soon be able to listen to rare, live, and unreleased tracks from Chris Belsito, as well as Belsito-related projects. The odd unreleased demo song might even show up. As well, there will soon be more tracks recorded by other members of the band. Stay tuned!
